Week 1 - Task 1

This task involved finding the point of longest access in a room to produce a master shot. After this was sketched out I then had to find an interesting way of having a character enter and then exit.

I used a pet shop interior as reference for my master shot.

The old woman enters with a little quail on a lead and walks to grab a large bag of dog food from a table in the foreground.

As the old woman interacts with the cashier her quail spots a fly flying around and transforms into a demonic being, scrabbling a hole in the ceiling and dragging the old woman up with it.

This was inspired by working at a pet shop and keeping quails as pets.

Week 2 -Task 2

This task involved Storyboarding a scene using a variety of different size shots and angles but only using two camera moves and one closeup.

I was listening to ‘Horsell Common and  The Heat Ray’ from Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of the War of the Worlds and was inspired to storyboard the following excerpt as there was a lot of scope for high and low angles given the difference in scale between the Martian tripods and civilians:

A few young men crept closer to the pit. A tall funnel rose and an invisible ray of heat leapt from man to man and there was a bright glare as each was instantly turned to fire.”

The two camera moves were:

1. A pull back to reveal the tripods body and the narrator standing on a rocky outcrop overlooking the pit.

2. A push out from the reflection of the fireball in the narrators eyes to reveal his horrified expression.

The one closeup was the aforementioned horrified expression.

Week 3 -Task 3

This week involved writing a script and shot list for a scenario and thumb nailing 3 different versions of the same scene.
